“Dangerous Love” is the talented British vocalist SOPHIE NEWICK’s debut album. Recorded in Andalucía, Spain, the album comprises 12 original songs; all composed and arranged by SOPHIE along with the Cuban producer, composer and musician Lino Díaz Solís.

A combination of sobriety, taste and sensitivity founded on the most traditional Jazz along with the aromas, colours and nuances of Flamenco, the Cuban Son, the French Chanson, Ska and Bossa Nova, the album “Dangerous Love” surprises and seduces you from the first instant. With a profound 100% Jazz style elegance about it, along with the outstanding and memorable vocals of SOPHIE NEWICK her voice appears to be a direct line descendant of the family of the Jazz Goddesses, reminiscent of Carmen McRae or Anita O’Day but with a brightness and defined personality of her own.

High quality material along with a fabulous compilation of songs all firmly rooted in Jazz, the album is enhanced by the superb arrangements of the Cuban musician Lino Díaz Solís. They intoxicate “La Vie En Rose” with Brazilian essences and add a shade of Jamaica to the irresistible Ska Jazz track “Storyville”. As for the Cha Cha Chá influenced title track “Dangerous Love” the musical score mesmerises you with a flavour of La Habana and similarly arises passion with the black Flamenco rhythms of “Spain”, perhaps the most sophisticated and complex piece on an album that can only be classed as exceptional… and performed by an even more exceptional singer SOPHIE NEWICK.
